Independence Day

So yesterday was the big Hoo and Hoorah! It was the Fourth of July. It was great. Although we didn't go out to visit family(gas is soo expensive) we were able to spend it with all of our friends who don't have family in town. We started with a waffle breakfast with our friends John and Heather. I love waffles with peanut butter! Moving on...then we loaded up and met up at Sam and Marielle's place and we all went to piedmont for the parade. After we had a great BBQ lunch with the most deliciouses corn I've ever had, thanks to the fabulous chef Marielle!
Here are photos from the parade:

After we headed to the park for some fun. We played a little baseball, till Shane cracked the bat! so that didn't last too long. But that's okay. Then it was the battle of the couples. BOCCE BALL! Yes and may I toot a horn and say I ROCKED it!! But we still loss since it was a team effort. Not everyone can be a Bocce champion as Derek found out but he was pretty good! :o) But we all had a really good time. I think this was the final score:

First-(I stand corrected)Syme ; Second-Evans ; Third- Florek ; Fourth- Hayes

But that might be wrong! After our game we headed home for an intermission before our evening BBQ with the Evans and Kittermans. We had home made ice cream which was stellar . We tried to watch fireworks buy the lake but that didn't work seeing as all the fireworks were blocked by the Essex building. But we still got our own show of lights (check out the corner photos in the photo stamp above). And to top the night off we watched a holiday classic... Independence Day!! WE had quite the day. I'm so glad we were able to spend it with all of our friends.

Oh and here are probably my three favorite photos of the day...
